That show is about being mean. It’s about tearing people down—that’s the entertainment value. It’s like watching old American Idol, with Simon Cowell, where the audition episodes were some of the most-viewed because you got to watch Simon tear a shred out of people and feel thankful you aren’t them. That’s what Hell’s Kitchen is, and Ramsey created it that way—but that isn’t who he is.
He’s a man who is passionate about food, about good food, about the making of good food, and just a little, about the humans behind the food.
